On Thursday, November 28th, the Lady Hornet Volleyball team had their yearly banquet to celebrate their season.

“The banquet allows us to celebrate the accomplishments of this season together as a team,” senior Hannah Jeter said.

The event allowed all volleyball players, regardless of their grade level, to come together and reflect on their hard-earned work and accomplishments.

“Everyone works very hard during the season, so the banquet is a chance to reflect on all of our memories. We got to sit back and be proud of how everyone’s hard work has paid off,” senior Madelyn Benoit said.

The night was especially special as all seniors were honored and given their own special moment as the underclassmen and coaches shared their favorite memory they had with each player.

“In the past we usually had a college coach or player who once played at the high school come and give us talks and encouraging words,” senior Maiya Dickey said.

This banquet, along with last years was different than most sports or even volleyball’s in previous years. Coach Cody Hassell feels that it’s very important that the players are the conductors of the ceremonies instead of an officiary. Almost every player had a chance to speak or introduce at some point throughout the night.

“I really enjoyed the banquet. It’s much more meaningful because instead of listening to some boring man or woman talk the whole time, I get to see some of the players I haven’t seen since the season talk and be in charge of the banquet,” junior Addie Slie said.
