On Oct. 3rd Buzzer club met to discuss their plans for this school year. Buzzer club has been part of HHS culture since the 1970´s. The club makes posters and spreads school spirit for all sport teams and groups.
“Buzzer club began around the 1970s by a teacher named Frankie Mcgee. It was created to be a spirit organization to support our teams at the high school. They not only created many decorations for team players, but also organized the Mum dance which is now called the homecoming dance,” teacher and club sponsor Amy Langley said.
Buzzer club strives to spread school spirit through decorations and posters. This year is no different for the club, and they have already begun the process of making posters for our football and tennis teams.
“We’ve made posters for the football team and tennis. We are planning on making a big poster to put up in the senior hallway,” senior Sophia Legerski said.
The club is not only already planning on making posters for the cross-country team and swim teams and preparing to decorate the senior hallway.
“Our main duties include selling spirit ribbons, decorating the senior hallway, and making individual and group posters for varsity sports and groups,” Langley added. “We currently sell spirit ribbons all over the district and create locker posters to decorate all varsity sports players lockers. We also create gift bags for the players and playoff posters for the teams.” she continued.
The students are happy to receive recognition for all the teams, and they hope the keep the club alive for many more years.
“Buzzer Club is really fun. I think it’s really cool how we support the teams,” senior Kiya Jones said. “Personally, I can’t wait to start decorating the senior hallway. ¨
